How Bout Those Resolutions???
So...are you sticking to it??? Sure, its the beginning of February, but hopefully you have been able to keep up with your resolution. These are the times when the gym is jam packed full of new people who haven't ever been to a gym...and I actually see that as a good thing :) It's all about consistency though.
If you have fallen victim to your new year's resolution, just dust your self off and keep it going. We're human and we are going to make mistakes from time to time. Just keep at it till you reach your goal.
Here's a few things that can help:
1) Have a vision and a goal. See it materialize in your head.
2) Write down your goal on a piece of paper. Put it where you can see it everyday.
3) Make a small day to day task list that will help you to get closer to your overall goal.
3) Be consistent. Be consistent. Be consistent. (Stuff does not happen over night.)
4) Find a workout program that works best for you. Get on a supplemental program. Use supplements that help (whey protein, meal replacement shakes, vitamins, etc.)
If you have fallen off track, these steps may help you to get back on that train :) Keep it going and don't give up! To those of you who are sticking to your resolutions...great job and keep it up!

Your Mentality
Have you ever woken up in the morning and said to yourself, "I know that I can be successful at weight loss." or "I have what it takes to reach my goals?" This is the way we should be thinking. Our inner thoughts play a big part of the weight loss journey. The mental part is just as important as the physical aspect...maybe even a little more! Here is a key to being successful at weight loss...are you ready?...change the way you think :) Goals can't be reached with negative thoughts. People can't be as successful as they want to be with negative thoughts. I've been there. I used to say things like "I'm just never going to lose this weight." "I gain weight so easily." or...check this one out..."This is just too hard." I had to change my thinking to make changes on the scale.
I also had to realize that my goals will not be met overnight. I had to realize that change will happen, but not two days from now. Training the body is a great, excellent thing to do...I'm all for it. But to be a total success at weight loss, we also have to train our minds. Start thinking positive :)

Magic Pills Anyone?
Right now I'm working at GNC and every once in a while there are customers that come in looking for a magical solution for weight loss. People come in and ask me "So which pill do you think works the best?" And then I point them to a good product in my opinion..."This one works pretty good...I've had good success with this." Some customers will tell me "Well, I'm trying to find something that will help me because I'm not working out right now." I think that it's kinda sad how those clever marketers will market a pill and make it sound like it's the cure for weight loss. It's very misleading. There's even a product that says "Eat whatever you want and still lose weight!" When I read that, I was like "That's just ridiculous!" Unfortunately, some customers come in looking for a magic pill to fix everything without working out or changing their lifestyle. The cold hard truth is that there is no such thing. A while back, I had to realize that myself.
When a customer asks for a bottle of diet pills, I ask them "So what is your diet like right now?" I ask my customers this to help them and to also make them think about what they could be doing to improve their weight loss without a pill. I get some pretty good answers :P A few customers tell me that they only eat once or twice a day and don't exercise. I'm not against pills at all, it's just not a magical solution. I've taken a few myself before...I even have a favorite. I've had my best results with Hydroxycut Hardcore. I didn't sit on the couch while I took it though...lol. I worked out with it and it was great
But that's the thing...a person has to realize that they have to workout with it or improve their diet to see any good results from a product.

Cheat Day or Food Fest??
Back when I started getting serious about being healthy, I was browsing around on the computer and I found out that it's ok to have a cheat day and that it's a great thing to do. When I learned about this I was extremely happy because this meant that I can eat whatever I want every once in awhile
So I assigned my cheat day to be every Saturday...and boy did I have fun! Krispy Kreme doughnuts were my first target! Then it would be time for some Chinese food! Needless to say, I took advantage of my day of freedom...lol. But something went wrong. My cheat started to spill over into the next day
It was at the point where I would cheat on Saturday and Sunday...and the scale would prove it. In one weekend, I would gain 10lbs!!! But during the week, I worked out so hard that the pounds would be gone by the next weekend...it's not a good cycle to go through because progress isn't being made. I went from having a cheat day to having a food fest. It took me a while to discipline myself to just having one day of cheating...it's a little harder to do on the weekends...but it's doable (It's not a word, but it works for the moment)
There are many people out there that are very strict and have just one cheat meal...not even a cheat day! Hopefully I'll be that disciplined someday...more power to 'em! But yeah...cheat days are great, but it can easily turn into something bad if it isn't controlled. Chinese food is my Kryptonite...lol...but i'm much better at resisting now. If you are having trouble with your cheat days, step back and take a look at your progress and your goals. Where do you want to be??? When you look at these things, you just might come up with a solution or find new motivation
